Better
dead than Red! Sounds like 50's rhetoric doesn't it, but…
There are 5 Communist countries left on the
planet. China, Laos, North Korea, Cuba and Vietnam. Given that many of the most basic human rights are not recognized in these Communist countries, WHY are we finding them on the U.S.A.'s friendly import/export list? Did the U.S.A. trade with Russia when it was a communist country? No.
So, you're not so worried about Communism rearing its head in America. But as Americans can we afford to support Communism in any other country? The basic rights of free speech, freedom of religion, right to assemble are not recognized by Communist governments. An old adage about sleeping with dogs and waking up with fleas comes to mind as we the citizens of the United States agreeing to do business with Communist countries are now paying the price, with numerous recalls: from tainted dog food to toys for our children painted with lead paints. Within this website you will find numerous reasons not to buy products made in Communist countries, and reports on the recalls of these products, as well as alternatives products that can be bought without supporting an oppressive regime. Although our first choice is always American made, it is not always possible so we look for countries that at least do not persecute their citizens for voicing their opinions or practicing the religion of their choice. |
